Employers are often confused about their obligations when it comes to providing a pension scheme for their staff.
Quite simply, if you employ five or more staff, then you probably have a legal obligation to provide a pension scheme. Some staff are exempt from this and therefore do not need to be counted.
Is is worth knowing that radical changes are looming. If an employer does not have a Qualifying Workplace Pension scheme in place by 2012, they will have to ensure that their employees are auto-enrolled into a default scheme that the Government is setting up.
